How low can you go? This is the question I was presented with a few weeks ago when a client asked me to redo her daughters bedroom for her 6th birthday. I was quietly concerned, $150 isn't a huge budget but I was determined to rise to the challenge, after all I've been known to make Ikea look like Ralph Lauren.
Take a look at the before and afters...
We started by clearing out the room so we had a blank canvas to work from. After that we put together a mood board to determine the overall style and then pulled up our sleeves to get the installation done over a few hours.
With a small budget paint or wallpaper wasn't an option, so we went for decals instead to create a feature wall.
The choice of the pastel multi-coloured polka dots opened up the colour palette so we wouldn't be limited in our choice of accessories. With a tight budget we needed to be able to find bargains so the colour palette needed to be wider than usual.
By adding a wooden display shelf and side table we were able add texture and warmth to the room which was important as the walls had to remain white - this can sometimes make a room cold so adding a variety of materials is essential.
An adorable cloud pillow was an inexpensive way to add personality and playfulness.
We managed to get our hands on some super cute accessories to style the space. A pastel palette was a good choice as the colour scheme is on trend at the moment, making the options endless.
So thats how you do it, a complete room makeover for under $150, actually $98 to be exact. Now there is no excuse to update that outdated bedroom, so go forth and style!
